DESIGN STUDIO 4

PROJECT 1 : FURNITURE FOR AN ELDERLY

In a group of 2, we are required to design a furniture which is intended for a specific user based on an in-depth study of the user’s need. This to develop awareness of environmental sustainability in a design and our ability to meet the imperative and interrelated social needs.

REFLECTION

In this project, I've learnt to understand the need of an elderly in a furniture. Not only that, i've also learnt to understand and create a better space for a certain user based on their personality and characteristic.

PROJECT 2 : CENTER FOR THE ELDERLY

In this individual project, we were required to design an elderly center in a suburban area with some complexity that includes the complexity of site topography and vegetation and socio-cultural events. We are also required to provide a full design proposal incorporating precedent study and site analysis at appropriate level of presentation. The design should contribute to and merge harmoniously with nature and the site, and provide the best of experiences for the users. Not only that, we also have to design the elderly center based on clustered spatial typology. Final drawings presentation is to be composed on 4 A1 panels.

FINAL PRESENTATION :

REFLECTION

First of all, I would like to thank Mr Izwan (my tutor) for teaching and guiding me through out the projects. This project taught me to apply ideas of environmental sustainability in the design. I've also learnt to design and create architectural spaces with consideration of environmental poetics in relation to the basic natural context and existing built context which impact on users’ experiences. Not only that, I've also managed to combine the environmental needs, socio-cultural events, and the users’ experiences within the building design in the open context based on clustered spatial typology.
